Exhibition at Ply Gallery London
getting work ready for my next exhibition coming up on July 20th. It runs for one week at the new Ply Gallery, part of Hornsey Town Hall art Centre. It’s run by the very friendly Daniella Bowden and is set in a large side room of the art centre in a beautiful Art Deco building!
I have been working on some London inspired works and including some summer vibe pop art which I’ve really enjoyed creating.
If you get a chance to pop in there is a free glass of wine on Wednesday July 20th between 7-9pm

I have really enjoyed working on these prints.. They have been made by collaging a selection of photos and prints of my work that I’ve chosen By colour and with a similar vibe to the picture I’m re- creating.. They are printed with ink on to 210 gsm silk paper and framed.. looking close up you can see all the different artwork used..
There are only a limited number of these prints and they are all numbered and signed.
They will be on display for a few more weeks or call 07940 517 690 for more details..

Provincial Punks in Margate
I had a fantastic summer’s day in Margate this week, and amongst the sand, sea and ice cream I visited the Turner Contemporary to see the new Grayson Perry exhibition Provincial Punk.
It is predominantly made up from his ceramic pots.. each one is covered with intricate illustrations.. you can feel the time and effort he has put in.. and has also individually hand written paragraphs for every one of them detailing ideas and influences behind them.. These give a really personal touch and tell a story behind the piece..
I particurlaly liked the video he has playing of the creation of one his pots.. again an intimate touch that brings you closer to the artist in his creative hub.
You can’t help but be impressed with the humongous tapestries lining the walls not only by their sheer size but by the amount of detail he has put in.. He is a great visual story teller and every piece of his work is like reading a book.
The exhibition runs until Sept 13 2015
Exhibition Mission
Have spent a couple of days up a ladder outside in the sunshine painting boards and signs for my local pub and small farm… Really enjoyed the experience of painting outdoors but I’m back in the studio to finish a couple of commissions…
I managed to to find time to visit the Barbican to see the Magnifent Obsessions Exhibition:
This is a collection of artists collections! By far my favourite room was Andy Warhols.. amongst his paraphernalia were the original monkey toy boxes which inspired some of his most famous pop art work.
Marlene Dumas – The image as a burden (5 Feb – 10 May 2015)
Marlene Dumas is a figurative painter, widely believed to be the most expensive female artist of all time, she is from South Africa and while sometimes controversial her art is intimate and compelling.
Sonia Delaunay – The EY exhibition (15 April – 9 August 2015)
Sonia Delaunay was a Russian artist who painted vibrant patterns well ahead of her time. she worked with her husband sometimes putting her own work behind his. Her work is mesmerising and colourful and has influenced many artists to this day.
And my favourite artist Gerhard Richter
He has some fantastic pieces up in the Making Traces Exhibition…
The exhibition is a collaboration of artists and explores their ability to extend their vision to canvas. Gerhard Richter has six pieces on show where he has deciphered music he was listening to Into great visionary works. He uses squeegees and oil paint to re-create the effects of what he hears and you can almost hear the sound of the music looking at them!
Next week I’m hoping to pop down to Margate to the Turner Contemporary Gallery and see the Grayson Perry Provincial Punk..

Been a while since I last blogged but commissions, exhibitions and lack of computer skills got in my way!
I am working on some abstract art at the moment so looking forward to visiting the open studios at secondfloor.co.uk next week in South London to get more inspiration.. especially from a good friend of mine Barry Bish who has one of the studios..

Andy Warhol – The Portfolios
I don’t know where the artificial stops and the real starts — Andy Warhol
Headed down to the Dulwich Picture Gallery to take a look at the Andy Warhol exhibition currently showing – It may not be the biggest collection of his work but it covers over 20 years of his screen prints including the infamous campbell soups, Marilyn Monroe and Muhammad Ali so well worth it. In fact am so inspired by his pop art that I’m going to try my hand at some silkscreen printing! I’m open to any suggestions you may have…
